So sad to know that a long-time friend and loyal member of Port Stanley Sailing Squadron is gone. Ab was an enthusiastic sailor, ready for the challenges of the lake and the ocean. Ab, on Whippoorwill, was a familiar entrant in the trans Lake Erie Race. He captained his boat as far south as the Bahamas and as far north as the North Channel. We have always thought of him as a calm, courageous, and cheerful sailor and a steadfast friend. Sail on, Ab.

I'm very saddened to learn of Ab's death. I worked with Ab at A&P for our entire careers. We travelled to projects together where I enjoyed Ab's sense of humour. We double dated in our teens when we were part timers. I remember one example of his humorous sarcasm. I had had bypass surgery and was off for many months, losing a lot of weight in the process. Then I met Ab at some formal A&P occasion. He took one look at me and said, "Why are you wearing somebody else's clothes?" He always had a unique way of saying things. We will really miss Ab. Our sincere condolences to Karen and all the family.

As a close friend of Rob, Ab's brother, I had the opportunity to enjoy Ab's company on many occasions. The best memory for me was our race from Port Stanley to Ashtabula Ohio on his beloved "Whipoorwill". It was truly a weekend race with all the elements to challenge us from torrential rain, wind, becalmed and sunshine. None if it bothered Ab, as he was in his happy place, on his boat. A great experience for all of us. My sincere sympathies to the entire Mycroft family on the loss of Albert.
