Patty and I offer our sincere condolences to the family. Fred and Alice were good friends of my parents (Betty and Roy Clayton) -- they first met when they all worked at Timken, and stayed good friends through the years. I remember Fred as a modest, warm, friendly, and good-hearted soul with a great sense of humour. His service as a navigator in the RCAF is remarkable, and his DFC was well-deserved. I feel fortunate to have known Fred, and I would like to think that he and Alice and Mom and Dad are all gathered around a table drinking coffee and swapping stories, just like in the old days.
