Obituary of Frances Finney (nee Blakely)
FINNEY, Frances “Fran” (née Blakely), of the Valleyview Home, St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, September 10, 2017, in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Clarence A. Finney (1998). Dearly loved mother of Carol Gorman (Kevin) of Shedden, Sharon Tully-Will (Bob) of Union, and Larry Finney of St. Thomas. Cherished grandmother of Matthew Gorman (Colleen), Ashley Gorman, Jennifer Tully Dolan (Jason), Daynna Smith (Wayne), Valerie Everatt (Aaron), and Darcy Cini (Josh). Also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Fran was the sister of the late Margaret Moore and the late Kenneth C. Blakely, and a dear friend of the late Bill O’Brien. Born in Harriston, ON, January 15, 1927, she had resided in St. Thomas since 1939. She was the daughter of the late Clifford and Mary (née Cumming) Blakely. Fran was a retired Canadian National Railway engineering clerk. She was a member of Central United Church, St. Thomas where she was a member of the Wo-He-Lo Group. Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Friday evening, September 15th from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A public memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 16th at 11:00 a.m. Fran’s cremated remains will be interred privately in Elmdale Memorial Park. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
