RICHARDSON, Doreen (née Harfield), of Metcalfe Gardens, St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, October 25, 2018, in her 97th year. Beloved wife for 71 years to the late Charles “Tim” Richardson (2016). Dearly loved mother of Joy Moody of London, Jill Richardson (Tom Dennison) of St. Thomas, Peter Richardson (Marilyn) of London, and Julie Richardson-Murphy (Robert) of St. Thomas. Cherished grandmother of Deven Richardson, Kyle Richardson, Marina Richardson, and Zackary Murphy (Kayla Williams). Proud great grandmother of Kyler Murphy. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister Edna Douglas, and by two brothers, Ronald and Roy Harfield. Born in West Haddon, Northants, England on June 26, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William and Connie (née Elliott) Harfield. She immigrated to Canada in 1950. Doreen assisted her husband at Richardson’s Food Market, Talbot St., St. Thomas, and also worked at Gifford’s Farm Market, St. Thomas. She was a member of St. Hilda’s-St. Luke’s Anglican Church, where she was active in the ACW and the choir. Doreen was a former member of the +55 Club, Port Stanley and a volunteer at the Tuck Shop at the Valleyview Home, St. Thomas. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held at St. Hilda’s – St. Lukes Anglican Church, St. Thomas. Memorial donations to St. Hilda’s-St. Luke’s Anglican Church or the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged.
