YUREK, Mary (née Henderson), of St. Thomas, passed away at LHSC, Victoria Hospital on Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, in her 87th year. Beloved wife for 60 years to Edward Yurek. Dearly loved mother of Peter (Nancy), Mike (Kathy), Sue Fougere (Ernie), Diane Alavie (Reza), Joe (Shari Hooper), and Jeff (Jenn). Cherished grandmother of Emily, Nick, Anne (Chris), Ben (Laura), Ashley (Kwin), Teresa, Elyse, Scott (Brianna), Jessica, Tyler, Tom (Katherine), Andrew (Danielle), Greg, Matthew and Maggie. Proud great grandmother of Ellie and Lily. Dear sister of Edward Henderson (Bev), and dear sister-in-law of Sandra Henderson, Clair Sceli, Jack and Bev Yurek. Also fondly remembered by Leslie, Brian, Meghan, Jacob, and Rebecca Chouinard, many nieces, nephews and their families. Mary was predeceased by four sisters, Jean, Carole, Barb and Margaret, and a brother, Peter. Born in Toronto, ON, May 6, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William Michael and Emily Brady Henderson. Mary was a member of Holy Angels’ Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas, and the Catholic Women’s League. The backbone of her family, more than anything, she loved being a good wife, mother, grandmother and recently great grandmother. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Tuesday, Sept. 11th from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 12th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Angels’ Roman Catholic Church, 502 Talbot St., St. Thomas on Thursday, Sept. 13th at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Flowers respectfully declined. Memorial donations to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation or Holy Angels’ Church Restoration Fund will be gratefully acknowledged.
