CARR, Albert J., of St. Thomas, passed away at the Elgin Manor, R.R.#1, St. Thomas on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, in his 95th year. Beloved husband for 73 years to Dorothy (née Burk) Carr. Dear father of Rev. Jim Carr (Lin) of Ingersoll, Sherry (Hank Goos) and Barbara Calvert (late Gerry), all of St. Thomas, Thomas Carr (Linda) of Aylmer and Paul Carr of Windsor. Cherished brother of Russell Carr (Shirley) of RR#2, St. Thomas, and the late Alan “Scotty” Carr (Lilian of R.R.#6, St. Thomas). Lovingly remembered by 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Born in London, ON, September 23, 1923, he was the son of the late Edward and Charlotte Carr. Albert had been retired for 30 years, having been a 48 year employee of Canada Vitrified Products Ltd., St. Thomas. He was a former 50 year member of St. Thomas Lodge #76, I.O.O.F., St. Thomas. Albert was a former private in the Canadian Army and served overseas for three years during the Second World War. He spent eleven months as a prisoner of war from 1944-1945. Albert’s family was deeply important to him. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Friday evening, July 6th from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 7th at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the STEGH Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 6:45 p.m. under the auspices of Last Post Branch 410, Royal Canadian Legion, Port Stanley.
