WILLSON, Hilliard E., of Caressant Care on Bonnie Place, St. Thomas, formerly of Port Stanley, passed away at his residence on Saturday, June 30, 2018, in his 98th year. Husband of the late Marion (née McFarlane) Willson (Apr. 9, 2018). Father of Sandra Sales (Paul) of Ottawa, Susan Willson (Steve Hossack) of Gloucester, MA, and Catherine Willson (Mike Fogal) of Ingersoll. Grandfather of Claire Sales (Jason Garlough), Laura Olsen (Byron), Kristopher Van Boven (Kayla), and Stephen Willson. Great grandfather of Isabell, Melody and Sophia Van Boven, and Jacob Garlough. Brother of Patricia Scott of London, late Bartley Willson, and the late Ronald W. Cox. Also survived by sister-in-law, Berna Rouhan of Howard City, MI, brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Graham of Sarnia, as well as several nieces and nephews. Born in Southwold Twp., ON, November 21, 1920, he was the son of the late Purcell and L. C. “Kate” (née Warner) Willson, and the step-son of the late Barbara (née Cox) Willson. He was a retired electrician. Hilliard was a member of Port Stanley United Church. He was a former member of the Port Stanley 55+ Club, the Golden Age Club, Port Stanley, and a former long-time volunteer with the Meals-on-Wheels program in Port Stanley. During the Second World War, he served overseas with the No. 145 Squadron RCAF. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Hilliard’s life will be held at Port Stanley United Church, 239 Colborne Street, Port Stanley on Thursday, July 5th at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the church hall. Relatives and friends will be received by the family prior to the service from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment will be made in Shedden Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Flowers respectfully declined. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario, or Port Stanley United Church will be gratefully acknowledged.
