Obituary of Shirley Bennett (nee Stuart)

BENNETT, Shirley (née Stuart), of Metcalfe Gardens, St. Thomas, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, in her 88th year.  Wife of the late Howard C. Bennett (2002).  Mother of Lori Lowitt (Alex) of Monetville.  Grandmother of Kristen Lowitt and Kerrie Blaise (Julian).  Sister of Leila Stuart, Wayne Stuart (Kathryn), and  Larry Stuart (Karen), all of St. Thomas, late Donald Stuart (June of St. Thomas), and the late Douglas Stuart (Marlyne Kirton of London).  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Born in Moosomin, SK, January 16, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Elsie (née Lawson) Stuart.  Shirley was a member of Central United Church, St. Thomas.  In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no public visitation or funeral service.  A private celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at a later date.  Memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice or the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.  Arrangements entrusted to the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas, ON (519-631-1160).
