Obituary of Ross H. Woodhouse

Of Shedden, formerly of RR1, Port Stanley, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Saturday, May 4, 2024, in his 86th year. Beloved husband for 62 years to Anna (née Eichler) Woodhouse. Dearly loved father of Ross Woodhouse (Shannon) of Shedden, Scott Woodhouse (Tanya) of Boxall, and Lisa Higgs (Mark) of Shedden. Cherished grandfather of Montana (Michael), Ripley (Tyler), Cole, Jordin, Liam, Meredith, Sydney, and Aidan. Brother of Frank Woodhouse (Kathie) of Grand Bend, and the late Larry Woodhouse (Jean of Portland, Oregon). Uncle of Dana (Yani), Michael, late Jodi, Andrea (Kevin), Paul, and their families.

 

Born in London, ON, February 17, 1939, he was a son of the late Harold Ross “Woodie” Woodhouse (1992) and Mildred Irene “Millie” (née Sinclair) Woodhouse (2022). Ross was a retired general contractor.

 

Ross was a member of First Yarmouth (Plains) Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir. A former member of Fingal United Church, having served on the Building Committee, Church Council, and sang in choir, Ross was also a former member of Dunwich United Church where he was on the Building Committee and in the choir. He was a Queen’s Scout and a former member of the Fingal Scout Troop and the 5th London Stewarts. Ross was a longtime member of the Port Stanley Community Choir.

 

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and private interment will be made in Hunter Cemetery, Lake Line, Southwold Twp. A celebration of Ross’ life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to First Yarmouth (Plains) Baptist Church or Pearce Williams Christian Centre will be gratefully acknowledged.
