Betty Clark (nee Hasiwar)

Obituary of Betty Clark (nee Hasiwar)

Elizabeth Rose “Betty” (née Hasiwar) Clark - Of RR5, St. Thomas, ON, passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2023, following a lengthy hard-fought battle with cancer, in her 73rd year. Beloved wife for over 40 years to Thomas P. “Tom” Clark. Dear step-mother of Michael Clark (Beth), and Scott Clark (Suzanne), and step-grandmother of Benjamin Clark. Dear sister of Marie Clarke (Claire), and John Hasiwar (Loretta). Forever loved by her nieces, Cheryl, Tracey, and Lori, and nephew, Joseph. One of Betty’s greatest loves was her Wheaten Terrier, Nikki. Born in St. Thomas, July 20, 1951, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Helen (née Sebok) Hasiwar.

Betty was an office manager with TST Overland Express, London, retiring after 42 years of service. She was a member of Holy Angels’ Parish, St. Thomas. An avid baseball fan, Betty loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays.

Betty was never afraid to get her hands dirty. She and Tom completed numerous projects around their country dream home. She planted a massive garden year after year and used the vegetables and fruit to cook her amazing dinners and desserts. Every family member and neighbour could name a favourite of theirs. Rhubarb cake, butter tarts, melt in your mouth shortbread cookies, and turkey dinner with her delicious coleslaw.

Betty loved to decorate her home for every holiday, but especially Christmas. She filled every room with her light-up pictures, numerous snowmen, holiday ornaments, and her hand-made rug hooking. There was not a wall, shelf, counter, table, or couch that she did not adorn with her treasured decorations.

Betty’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her amazing neighbours, Sean and Kevin. The acts of kindness and time afforded to Betty and Tom over the past several years is so very much appreciated and has been a tremendous blessing.
