Obituary of Frances "Fran" Ryckman

Ryckman, Frances "Fran" (née Harris) - Of the Valleyview Home, St. Thomas, passed away at her residence on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the age of 86. Wife of the late Robert C. E. Ryckman (1971). Dearly loved mother of Melanie McBain (Jamie), Lori Starkey (Stan), Mark Ryckman, Roberta Walker, and the late Dorothy “Dolly” Ryckman (1999). She was proud of her grandchildren, Nathan Cressman, Chantelle Cressman, Taylor McBain (Stephanie), Jennifer Meesters (Ryan), Jonathan Starkey, Michael Starkey, and James Starkey (Michelle), and her great grandchildren, Deidre, Josh, Tyler, Faith, Olivia, Micah, Ava, Juliette, Colton, and Caleb. Dear sister of Michelle “Mickey” Mulder (late Ron), and the late Ron Harris (Nina Phelps-Harris). Fran is also remembered by her nieces, nephews, and their families.

Born in St. Thomas, July 6, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy “Dolly” (née Nicholson) Harris. Fran was the former owner of Johnson Hearing Centre, St. Thomas. She formerly attended Faith Baptist Church and Centre Street Baptist Church.

A funeral service to celebrate Fran’s life will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 1:30 p.m., followed by interment in the St. Thomas Cemetery, West Avenue. Friends will be received by the family prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:20 p.m. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners will be gratefully acknowledged.
