Obituary of Christine de la Penotiere

de la Penotiere, Christine (née Lusher) - Of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, May 28, 2023, in her 78th year. Beloved partner of Raymond D. “Ray” Barrett. Dearly loved mother of Brian de la Penotiere (Debbie), Chris de la Penotiere (April), and Shaun de la Penotiere (Marisol). Step-mother of Tracy Major (Dave), and Darryl O’Brien (Erica). Godmother of Shane. Christine is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, siblings, Rosemary, John, and Diane, as well as her nieces, nephews, and their families. Fondly remembered by her dear friends, Sondra, and Barb.

Christine was born in England on December 28, 1945, a daughter of the late John and Elsie (née Corbett) Lusher. She emigrated to Canada with her family in 1951. A retired employee of the City of St. Thomas, Christine worked as a clerk in the Tax Department. Many people will remember her as the former lead singer of Kris and the Country Critters.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  Christine’s family will celebrate her life privately. Memorial donations to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged.
