Obituary of Carmela Maccarone (nee DiMeo)

Of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at Chartwell Aylmer on Sunday, November 27, 2022, in her 88th year. Beloved wife for nearly 46 years to the late Nicola “Nick” Maccarone (2006). Dearly loved mother of Carlo Maccarone (Catherine), and cherished Nonni of Christina, Nicholas, and Dominic Maccarone. Dear sister of Sanda “Norina” D’Arcangelo (late Rocco), Iolanda Maccarone (late Guido), late Biase “Enzo” DiMeo (Antonietta), and the late Arduino DiMeo (Rosalia). Also fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, and their families.

Born in Brecciarola, Italy, January 29, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Eugenio and Rosa (née Constantine) DiMeo. Carmela formerly worked in housekeeping at the Memorial Hospital, St. Thomas. She was a member of St. Anne’s Parish.

Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Wednesday, November 30th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Church, 20 Morrison Dr., St. Thomas on Thursday, December 1st at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. The wearing of a mask at the visitation and mass is strongly encouraged. Flowers respectfully declined. Memorial donations to the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank will be gratefully acknowledged.
