WHITMAN, David, of St. Thomas, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, in his 70th year. Husband for over 45 years to Susan (née Sagriff) Whitman. Father of Becky Hill (Jeff), and Tammy Whitman, and grandfather of Dylan, Ashley, Amy, Holly, Cooper, Ethan, and Avery. Brother of Debby Cummings (Brian), Mary Whitman, Bill Whitman (Lori), Roger Whitman (Mariane), and Dwight Whitman (Miki). Also remembered by in-laws, Jerry and Brenda Sagriff, three step-sisters, several nieces and nephews and their families, and by his best buddy, his dog Jake. David was born in Middleton, Nova Scotia on October 6, 1948. He was the son of the late Audrey (née Goldsmith) Reynolds and the late Rufus Whitman (late Bertha). David was a retired employee of Presstran Industries, and a former long-time employee of Hayes-Dana, St. Thomas. He was a member of St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas and served on the St. Anne’s Festival Board for many years. David was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Friday, December 22nd from 2:30-4:30 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, 20 Morrison Dr., St. Thomas on Saturday, December 23rd at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Flowers respectfully declined. Memorial donations to Childcan or the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
