Obituary of Jennie Joos (nee Zellmann)
JOOS, Jennie (née Zellmann), of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Monday, November 13, 2017, in her 80th year. Beloved wife and best friend for 50 years to the late Paul M. Joos (2009). Dear mother of Debra Barrett (Steve) of St. Thomas, Stephen P. Joos (Michelle) of Georgian Bluffs, and Brian A. Joos (Corrinne Voogt) of St. Thomas. Loved sister of Ina Newham (Calvin), Phillip Zellmann (Patricia), all of St. Thomas, late Barbera Tenhoeve, and the late Adam Zellmann. Also survived by two sisters-in-law, as well as several nieces and nephews. Born in Barendrecht, The Netherlands on June 6, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Aart and Jozina (née Kanters) Zellmann. Jennie came to Canada in 1952, and to St. Thomas in 1963. She was a member of Holy Angels’ Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas, and the Catholic Women’s League. Jennie was a retired employee of Essex Wire, St. Thomas. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Wednesday evening, November 15th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. (Prayers at 8:30 p.m.). The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Angels’ Roman Catholic Church, 502 Talbot St., St. Thomas on Thursday, November 16th at 1:00 p.m., followed by interment in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or Holy Angels’ Church Restoration Fund will be gratefully acknowledged.
