HARRIS, Helen (née Gloin)- Formerly of RR3, St. Thomas, passed away at her residence, Terrace Lodge, Aylmer on Monday, March 9, 2020, in her 104th year. Wife of the late C. Murray Harris (1982). Mother of James M. “Jim” Harris (June), and the late Aubrey J. Harris (2018) (Norma Norton). Grandmother of Stephen Harris (Michele), Debbie Dempsey (Kevin), Cindy Harris, and Gregory Harris. Great grandmother of Michael Harris (Laura), Jessica Terpstra (Mike), Andrew Murdoch (Beth), Ainslee Tracey (Andrew), Brianna Dempsey (Kyle), and Jessica “Ocean” Harris. Great great grandmother of George and Griffin Murdoch, Noah Harris, and Lilah Terpstra. Sister of Laurence Gloin (Joy) and the late Gilbert Gloin (Pat). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families. Born in Yarmouth Township, ON, January 2, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Grace (née Gilbert) Gloin. Helen taught elementary school and at the St. Thomas Business College. She also formerly worked at the County of Elgin Sherriff’s Office. She was a member of the former Yarmouth Centre United Church. Helen was a former member of the St. Thomas Camera Club and an award winning photographer, a former member of the St. Thomas Seniors’ Centre, and in her younger years was a member of the Junior Farmers. The funeral and committal service will be held at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Thursday, March 12th at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends will be received by the family one hour prior. Private interment in the St. Thomas Cemetery, West Ave. Flowers respectfully declined. Memorial donations to the Terrace Lodge Redevelopment Fund will be gratefully acknowledged.
