CUMMING, James A. “Jim”, a resident of St. Thomas since 1985, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2019, in his 99th year.  Husband of the late Caryl (née Ingraham) Cumming (1992), and the late Elizabeth “Betty” (née Donaldson) Cumming (2013).  Father of Nancy Velek, Donald Cumming (Sherri Minnie), and Anne Cumming.  Grandfather of Lorraine, Brendan, Aaron, Nicholas, David, and Ted, and great grandfather of Zoa, Bennington, Willoughthorpe, Henry, and Lola.  He was the brother of the late Donald Cumming.  Born in Geneva, Switzerland, June 6, 1921, he was the son of the late J. A. “Jock” and Marguerite (née Staub) Cumming.  Jim was a retired port manager with Alcan, Port Alfred, Québec.  He also served with the British Merchant Navy and the Canadian Merchant Navy.  Jim was a member of New Vision Community Church, St. Thomas.  He was a volunteer at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital for a number of years, and a former member of the Golden “K” Kiwanis Club, St. Thomas.  In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or funeral service.  Private interment of his cremated remains will be made in Elmdale Memorial Park.  Memorial donations to New Vision Community Church or the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged.  Arrangements entrusted to the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160). 

Arrangements

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or funeral service.  Private interment of Jim's cremated remains will be made in Elmdale Memorial Park, St. Thomas.
