Obituary of Jean Gowling (nee Boniface)

GOWLING, Jean (née Boniface), of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, in her 93^rd year.  Beloved wife for 44 years to the late W. James Gowling (1994).  Dearly loved mother of Beth Gowling of St. Thomas, Bonnie Houghton (John) of Tottenham, Curt Gowling (Debbie Molnar) of London, late Heather Manzara (2019), and the late (infant) William “Billy” Gowling.  Cherished grandmother of Gulio and John Manzara, Brianne, Meghan and Lindsay Houghton, and Karlee Gowling.  Loving great grandmother of Charlotte and Kaydence.  Also remembered by several in-laws, nieces and nephews.  Born in Burgessville, ON, November 16, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth (née Hutchison) Boniface.  A Registered Nurse, Jean was a graduate of the Woodstock General Hospital.  She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas, where she was a former member of the choir for 37 years.  Jean was a member of Golden Acres Chapter #305, O.E.S, Shedden, a former officer of Central Star Chapter #57, O.E.S., a former member of Bethany Shrine, having been treasurer, and was a volunteer at the STEGH for 15 years.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Friday evening, July 12^th from 7:00-9:00 p.m.  The funeral service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 55 Hincks Street, St. Thomas on Saturday, July 13^th at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the Rodney Hall of the church.  Private interment in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Thamesford, ON.  Memorial donations to the Arthritis Society, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario will be gratefully acknowledged.
