Obituary of Mary Rintoul (nee Cook)
RINTOUL, Mary (née Cook), of the Elgin Manor, R.R.#1, St. Thomas, passed away at her residence on Saturday, October 14, 2017, in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of 61 years to the late Rev. Elgin R. Rintoul (2011). Dearly loved mother of Margaret “Peggy” Rintoul (Neil Sinclair), Ruth Jenkins (Gord), and Jean Ward (Arnold). Cherished grandmother of Arthur (Diana), Andrew (Joana), and Heather (Albert) Sinclair, Maryanne (Paul), Scarlet (Victor) and Quinton Jenkins, and Elizabeth, Irene and Walter Ward. Loving great grandmother of Arizona and Lincoln. Dear sister of the late John Cook (1996) and the late Muriel Cook (1969). Born in London, ON, October 25, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mabel Louisa “Lulu” (née Scott) Cook. Mary was a graduate of the University of Toronto and a retired teacher. She was a member of First United Church, St. Thomas. The funeral service will be held at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Wednesday, October 18th at 1:00 p.m. Interment in South Park Cemetery. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, October 17th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
