Obituary of Mildred Edgar (nee Dane)

EDGAR, Mildred (née Dane) – Of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at the Valleyview Home on Monday, April 1, 2019, in her 101st year. Beloved wife for 65 years to the late Thomas V. Edgar (2006). Dearly loved mother of Faye Edgar of St. Thomas, Ruth Stirling (late Michael) of London, and Lynne Blunt (John) of St. Thomas. Cherished grandmother of Ryan Stirling (Amanda), Erin Adams (Jeff), Kate Welch (Rob Butterwick), Matthew Welch (Andrea), and Kaitlyn Van Houwelingen (Spencer). She was proud of her great grandchildren, Allison, Dane, Travis, Kayla, Jordan, Logan, and Luke. Dear sister of the late Elva Jacques (late Lloyd), and the late Edgar Dane (late Eleanor). Mildred is also fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews and their families. Born in Howick Township, ON, August 12, 1918, she was the daughter of the late William and Sillinda (née Bush) Dane. Mildred and Tom moved to St. Thomas from Gorrie, ON in 1958. She was a member of Central United Church. Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Mildred’s life will be held at Central United Church, 135 Wellington Street, St. Thomas on Friday, April 5th at 1:30 p.m. Relatives and friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the service. Interment of Mildred’s cremated remains will be made in Gorrie Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation, Central United Church, or the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
