BURKE, Lorene “Lorey” (née MacKewn) – Of St. Thomas, passed away at the Valleyview Home on Friday, January 18, 2019, in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Douglas S. “Doug” Burke. Much loved mom of Brenda Sagriff (Jerry) of St. Thomas, and Brian Burke of London. Dearly loved grandmother of Patrick Sagriff, Bradley Sagriff (Sue), Sarah Nielsen (Erik), Ryan Burke, Gabrielle Burke, and Julia Burke. Cherished great grandmother of Leah, Savanna, Brody, Kaleb, Rowan, and an expected great granddaughter. Loving sister of Elaine Krah (late Peter) of Welland. Dear sister-in-law of Mary Jane Johnson (late George) of Québec. Also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Born in London, ON, July 30, 1931, she was the daughter of the late William and Greta (née Isaac) MacKewn. Lorey formerly operated No-Dip Furniture Stripping, St. Thomas along with her husband Doug. She was a member of Central United Church, St. Thomas, where she was formerly active. Lorey was a former dedicated volunteer at the Pearce Williams Christian Centre for a number of years and a community volunteer for many years. In keeping with her wishes, Lorey’s body has been donated to medical science. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Tuesday, January 22nd from 7-9 p.m. and for one hour prior to the ceremony at the church. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Central United Church, 135 Wellington Street, St. Thomas on Wednesday, January 23rd at 11:00 a.m. Flowers respectfully declined. If desired, memorial donations to Inn Out of the Cold will be gratefully acknowledged.
