Obituary of Betty Pickersgill Unich (nee Bowlby)

PICKERSGILL UNICH, Betty (née Bowlby), a lifelong resident of St. Thomas, passed away at her residence on Friday, January 11, 2019, in her 89^th year.  Wife of the late George R. Pickersgill (1982) and the late Dusan “Daniel” Unich (2013).  Mother of Mary Patriquin (Randy) of St. Thomas, and the late Cathy Green (Jim of Bayfield).  Step-mother of Bruce Unich (Barbara) of Calgary, AB, Vera Unich of St. Thomas, and Brian Unich (Sheri) of St. Marys.  Sister of Donna, Lois, Margaret, Orma, and Bill.  Also survived by 8 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Siblings, Helen, Dorothy, Beatrice, Jean, Lonnie, and David predeceased her.  Born in St. Thomas, ON, July 25, 1930, she was the daughter of the late William and Marie (née Martin) Bowlby.  Betty formerly attended the St. Thomas Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  Relatives and friends will be received by the family on Monday, January 14^th from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 15^th at 11:00 a.m.  Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park.  Memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
