ARMSTRONG, Jack “Army”- Formerly of St. Thomas, passed away at Oneida Long Term Care, Southwold on Thursday, December 27, 2018, in his 96th year.  Husband of the late Marion (née Smalldon) Armstrong (1995).  Father of Richard Armstrong (late Shirley) of St. Thomas.  Grandfather of Wesley Armstrong (Charlotte) of Fingal, Jackie Stuart (Darrin) of Marblehead, MA, and Megan Newman (Dave) of Nevada City, CA.  Great grandfather of Zachary, Claire, William, Eve, James, Maeve, and Sylvie.  Jack was born on January 14, 1923 in Toronto, ON.  He was a retired Canada Post relief supervisor.  During the Second World War, he served overseas with the RCAF.  Jack was a member of Lord Elgin Branch #41, Royal Canadian Legion, St. Thomas.  In earlier years, he was a well-known baseball and fastball player.  He also coached and umpired minor baseball.    In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or funeral service.  Private interment of his cremated remains will be made in Fingal Cemetery.  Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged. Arrangements have been entrusted to the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160). 

 

Arrangements

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or funeral service.

Interment

Private interment of his cremated remains will be made in Fingal Cemetery.
