Obituary of Irene Hales (nee McCallum)

HALES, Irene (née McCallum), of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, in her 97th year.  Beloved wife of the late Earl Hales (1997).  Dearly loved mother of Anne Vair of Kitchener, and Lynn Plaquet (Randy) of Aylmer.  Cherished grandmother of Toria Vair of Toronto, and Gregg Vair of Kitchener.  She was the sister of the late Jean Fraser.  Irene is also fondly remembered by Jim Vair of London, as well as several nieces, nephews, and their families.  Born in Dutton, ON, August 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Annie (née McKillop) McCallum. Irene was a long-time member of Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas.  The funeral service will be held at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Saturday, October 21st at 1:30 p.m.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be made in Elmdale Memorial Park.  Memorial donations to Knox Presbyterian Church, the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
